Woot! I officially held down a 4.0 GPA for my first semester of college. \o/ Granted it was all easy classes, but still, I'm happy.

Today was my last day of regular classes! Just have to take a couple finals next week and I'm done for the semester. :D

But today before the teacher came into the room, this guy in my English class was talking about how he's been buying all his essays off the internet. Loudly and in front of the whole class. With details. So I reported him. Hope his ass gets expelled! The teacher already suspected him, but hopefully some of the info I gave her will help things along a little bit.

So I'm going to Jesse's for Thanksgiving. I'm pretty excited. Kinda nervous. I'll be staying at his mother's house, then we're going to his father's house for actual Thanksgiving dinner, and I really hope I don't fuck up or say something wrong or... whatever. Anyway.

I'm also excited because:

-I've never been to Philadelphia when it's not pouring rain
-Distance sucks.
-We are going to go see "The Men Who Stare At Goats", which just looks awesome.

Yaaaaaay Friday!

I can't believe there's only about four full weeks left in the semester. I have a feeling it's going to get a tad heavier in terms of workload, but nothing I can't handle.

My awesome Bio lecture professor brought us all candy today. In her words, "Since everybody's test sucked I'm bringing consolation candy." But we didn't get our tests back today, have to wait till monday, but I'm definitely a little worried. :(

So I'm reading an article about essay mills, and this line struck me as funny:

"The same source also says Mr. Mizyuk regularly visits the Philippines and describes him as a smallish man with thinning hair and dark-rimmed glasses. "He looks like Harry Potter," the source says. "The worst kind of Harry Potter.""

So the toilet in our small bathroom needs a part replaced.

Then my mother decided to just replace all the parts in it, because it does need it. Then that turned into tearing down the wallpaper in that bathroom and repainting. Then that turned into retiling the floor, too. And reframing the mirror, and replacing the little corner sink.

*sigh*

So I was picking up some deoderant today, and I notice that on one type (Secret for Women) there's a little sticker. "Extra Responsive in Emotional Situations."

....what.

There was no such sticker on the men's kind of the same brand. Now I'm trying to figure out if what they really mean is "if you use this you won't get BO while you're fucking" or if they really mean emotional situations like I'm thinking (weddings, funerals, arguments... whatever).

I'm kind of bad at time management. I get everything done eventually, and it's on time, but I need to start practicing getting things done much more efficiently and earlier on. It'd be nice to get everything done for the weekend on Friday afternoons so that I'll have the whole weekend off and not have to worry about anything.

So uh. I found out yesterday that my niece is pregnant and engaged. It was quite a shock... but she's really happy about it, at least. (Keep in mind that she's 21... so quite young, but not underage or anything. Yes, my niece is older than I am.) Apparently it was unplanned but I'm not getting the impression that it was unwelcome, so... whatever. I know they were planning on getting married eventually anyway.

I really need to start being more organized. Also, I need more binders and stuff. Blah!

I really need to start going to bed early and getting consistently good sleep. What sucks is that I *like* being up late - it's when I feel the most comfortable and alive and mentally focused. I'm thinking about breaking up my sleep into a schedule where I sleep 4hrs, get up in the morning, work out, go to school, see the horse, come home, sleep four hours, wake up and do stuff in the evening. Meh. I'll figure it out.

Ben's looking so shiny and pretty right now. Too bad he's gonna turn into a fuzzy bumpkin in a month.
Well, I survived my first day of classes! I'm glad I decided to have a fairly easy first semester - it looks like there's going to be a lot of work in my Biology class, but hopefully it'll be fun.

Overall it's going to take up less time than K-12 public school hours, so that's good. Doesn't look like there's going to be just tons of homework, either.

I did have some problems because my schedule was printed off in July and they'd changed around the classrooms for the classes - but even though I managed to thoroughly piss off the woman at the division office (the info desk didn't know where they were in, either), I got to all my classes on time. I really like my math professor - and I'm glad there were lots of people in the lawlubad math class.

It kind of really pisses me off when I see (pun intended). On anything. For any reason.

IT RUINS THE JOKE IF YOU SAY (PUN INTENDED). REALLY, IT DOES. Do you make a joke then go (joke intended)? No? Really? I wonder why (sarcasm intended).

It's somewhere between insulting to the reader, by implying that the reader is too stupid to realize the author made a pun, or self-deprecating on the part of the author, by implying that they're too stupid to make a pun that any normally functioning person would pick up on, and so have to mark it out to make their wittyness known (since it obviously isn't showing if they have douchebaggy paretheses everywhere with 'pun intended' in them).

I had the most bizarre day.

I got up at 5am and drove to Lexington (VA, not KY) to watch the Grand Prix rides at Dressage At Lexington. There were some nice pairs, none of them internationally competitive - for some reason the really good people weren't there this year, probably saving up their budgets for more important shows due to the economy - but still, there was probably a good $25mil in horseflesh (if not more) gathered at the VA Horse Center. Lots of entries in the lower levels, of course.

Ran into Patricia there (hadn't planned to meet up, she originally wasn't going to come Sunday but was bored or something). We LOL'd at the training level class, not gonna lie. Everything is funnier when she's commentating it. "Alfonso Doce... that sounds Spanish... I'm surprised he has such a terrible seat" ss this Spanish dude on a Lusitano flops his way through the Training-1 test. (Yes, this man is a professional trainer. Supposedly.)

One of the GP riders could not, for the life of her, manage to ride on her letters. I mean really. A professional attempting to ride at Grand Prix cannot manage to halt at C, reinback and trot on? Really? GG

The weather was strange. It would start POURING rain but also be glaringly sunny at the same time. Sucked driving back in it, I've never seen so many tow trucks/minorly wrecked cars on the side of the interstate before.

There was also a strange incident where a morbidly obese young man sitting a few rows down from us appeared to be eating nacho cheese (just the cheese) with his fingers out of a large plastic bowl.

SO IM HAVING A KIND OF EPICALLY HORRIBLE DAY. and it's not even noon yet. Well, none of it's really all that horrible - I'm alive and (mostly - see fifth paragraph) healthy. Just extremely annoying.

First of all, last night the power went out over the whole region. Great. From like 12 to 6:30, no power.

It happened right in the middle of a 25man hard-mode Thorim attempt. This means absolutely nothing to non-WoW nerds, but it basically means that I disconnected from World of Warcraft at the worst possible time. But whatever, it's just a game - unfortunately I play a crucial role (healer) so they probably wiped. But still, no big, stuff happens, it's just a game.

Then when my power comes back (after an odd night of sleeping in pitch blackness, piled upon by four cats), I decide to log in, pop a note to the raid leader out of courtesy... and discover that while my power was gone, I've been hacked. So now I've got to go through the whole deal of re-securing my computer and account.

Also, I'm getting sick. Slight fever, headache, achey joints, light nausea, and scratchy throat.

On top of it all, I set a piece of toast on fire this morning.

GOD. Some people crave chocolate and ice cream, I crave ribs. A nice set of pork baby backs with a good sweet KC sauce. Mmmm.
Every time I look at http://www.tastespotting.com/ I just want to start cooking. Anything, everything, I just want to cook.

Anyway, I'm really trying to... broaden my horizons, food-wise. I'm trying to eat both healthier and more creatively. I have a tendency to find foods that I like and then prepare it that way over and over, but hey, variety's the spice of life and I need a little more variety. I'm cleaning out my kitchen tonight and organizing all our ingredients so I can get a good look at what we need.
